With temperatures soaring, Arizona still has a chance to enjoy the outdoors. On National Beach Day, switch it up and go to one of Arizona’s many beaches. Here’s a list of beaches you can visit, all within a 4-hour drive from Fountain Hills.
Tempe Beach Park
Located right here in the Valley, Tempe Beach Park offers plenty of outdoor activities all year round. There are more than five miles of paths and exercise trails, picnic areas, ramadas, and various boat rentals. The park hosts nearly 40 events each year, including the Ford Ironman Arizona and Rock ‘n’ Roll Marathon.
Lake Havasu Beaches
Lake Havasu State Park is considered the largest of the western Arizona state parks, stretching nearly 11,000 acres. This provides ample space for beachfront activities. Windsor Beach is one of the more popular beaches. Water skiing, boating, and fishing are the main attractions here with hiking and four-wheel drive trails along the lake. The London Bridge Beach features the famous London Bridge while offering playgrounds and picnic areas. Rotary Beach is a free beach for residents and visitors alike, with volleyball and bocce ball courts and a designated swim area.
Located at the first bay of Lake Powell, Wahweap Beach offers expansive panoramic views of the desert. Boat rentals and tours are available at the Wahweap Marina. The beach is a hidden gem, and the water is always clean and beautiful. You can also hike one of the canyons nearby. If you find yourself wanting to stay longer, the beach offers a campground nearby.
Buckskin Mountain State Park
Buckskin Mountain State Park is situated at the California/Arizona border showcasing stony mountains and sparkling water. The park offers a slender beach where swimming is permitted. There’s also a campground, 21 cabana sites, and a market all within walking distance.
